Somashekar – An IT guy who gets worried about little things in life. Wants to always be organized and has a mask that embodies Seriousness to the core, one that he dons because of the senior post he holds in his company. He signifies Monday and the tension associated with it. Mangala – A charming lady as most koorgis are. She has the ability since childhood to win over people with her charm. Something that he inherits from the clan she belongs to. She is currently into international tourism management and owns a resort in her hometown. A total fun to be with character who knows only to enjoy life and makes money just to ensure that her parental property doesn’t get empty. Signifies the charming and laid back attitude of humans Tuesday. Gautham – Smart and handsome, this actor by profession has made it large after struggling in the initial days. He understands the power of being a star and is working hard towards it now. Through his childhood he has been a good observer and mimic of any peculiar characters around him, which has helped him put his foot firmly in the film industry. He is waiting for his big break at this time. He signifies Wednesday suggesting the creative part of us. Gunaa - A reformed lady who initially was against the basic requirements orthodox living to now being a preacher of religion. She is a very calm and logical character who brings out the need of following the logical side of what our ancestors have left behind. Her dislike towards the religious boundaries laid down by the society urges her to learn more about history and brings about the change in her through the historical, mythological and spiritual knowledge she earns. Married to Nihaanth they compliment the physics rule of opposites attract. She stands for Thursday where we tend to do everything seriously right. Lakshminarayan – A cool chilled out guy who has been happily living his life with his father’s business running good. Someone who is always cool and has managed to keep tension away. He signifies Friday and the chilled out attitude that it brings to our lives.
Nihaanth – A very calculative and meticulous person by nature his
favorite hobby as a kid was to make money by selling maavinkaayi and
nimbehuli in the class at double rate. He is a very calculative person who
knows how to extract money even from a kanjoos. He is a happy natured guy
but when it comes to business is very strict and doesn’t leave a penny.

As we all know funding a play like this becomes taxing for any theatre group. Our modest budget for sets and other initial investments adds up to a little over a lakh. We need the support of Good Samaritans and patrons of the arts for our production, and in return, there are many ROI schemes, which we have in our basket. Kindly get in touch with us on prakasamtrust@gmail.com or call Vasu on 9900221232 and we would love to meet up with you to discuss the same. |

The story is the result of the directors memoirs from his growing up days. The striking similarity of childhood being good and adulthood is all about remembering childhood drives the story. The simplicity of childhood has made way for the rouge thoughts of business minded adulthood. This is the common thought flow from generation to generation in independent India. The six characters here represent the six days of the week who hold the seventh character Ravi representing Sunday in high esteem. We using these six main and six supporting characters showcase how we have learnt to live without happiness but with a lot of artificial stress. The play is set to question the audiences view point of life and enthuse them to start living again. |
||||
|
This play was
formulated over a friendly discussion when one of my long lost childhood
friend surfaced into the restaurant and we had a lively chat about how we
were and how we are. This left a bug in my brain which enthused me to
think over the basic concept of the story. We have made our lives into
something which every one else wants us to be, it could be what your mom,
dad, wife, girlfriend, boss, peers etc. want, but when was the last time you
stopped, looked back and thought about the fact that is this the way you
wanted your life to be? Bogie is going to ask you the same question through
six complicated main characters and six contradicting supporting characters.
If this play even puts a thought in your mind about living life and
motivates you to stop leading life, then the objective of Bogie is met and
we pass with flying colors. P D Sathish Chandra |

This is Sathish's eighth production under the Pra.Ka.Sam & Fourth Corner banner. He has been working with different theatre groups from India at different times. After his hibernation or disappearance for three years, the Ranga Shankara festival in 2004 put him back in line with active theatre. He currently runs Kala Soudha as its Director and aims to run the place to encourage new talent and to bring out performances that are fresh and unique. He is now acting as Paddu in Panduranga Vittala, a Kannada sitcom, on Zee Kannada. He is still known for his theatre columns in newspapers and with special reference to the Sunday reviews in the Times of India. For his personal profile CLICK HERE & Artist Profile CLICK HERE |
