P D Sathish Chandra aka PD, is best known as a cultural entrepreneur & a communications professional. After his last media stint as the Programming Head for Radio Mirchi 98.3 Bangalore, he now involves himself in the field of performing arts. He consults to select production houses as Creative Producer & handpicks projects to act, write & direct as well.

As an actor he is fondly recognised for his comic portrayal of Paddu in Zee Kannada's sitcom "Panduranga Vittala" which ran for five years completing 1336 episodes. He has also done some memorable characters like Hanuman in "Bhale Basava", guest star in two seasons of "Gali Gali Sim Sim", Boxer Balram in "Paapa Pandu 2" & Padhmanabh in Friends Kannada remake "Yakhingaadtaaro". He has acted in all south Indian language movies & also in Bollywood. The Malayalam movie he acted in with Mamooty, "Kutty Srank" won 7 national awards. Other noteworthy movies are Bell Bottom, ACT1978, Shivaji Suratkal, Yajamana, I Love You, 99, Nanjundi Kalyana, Re, Abhimanyu

He also ran a spoof news show for Public TV called Vaaranna for four months. But his first love, theatre, takes centre stage. He has been actively involved in theatre from 1990 and has done substantial work in all departments pertaining to performing arts. The golden quill in the cap would be Kala Soudha which his trust and theatre group Pradarshana Kala Samsthe or Prakasam is promoted between 2009-2018. Prakasam aims at cultivating culture by encouraging young theatre aspirants and by bringing in newer audiences to theatre, though Prakasam's Kala Krushi projects. He has also modelled for multiple brands and is featured in projects such as Simplymarry.com | Big Bazaar | Britannia | Radio One | Tata | Dhathri Abs | Act TV | AHA OTT | Hello Kanistidya | Hero Movie Promotions etc.

Where he came from:

His experience in performing arts dates back to his college days when he played an active role in theatre. Slowly his interest grew into passion and he was into mainline theatre stream with his group Prakasam. His stand-up comedy act was revisited and he started acting in mainstream amateur theatre. He was part of the founding team of Ranga Shankara till the first year of its operations. His love for teaching started with his first job at NMKRV College for Women and still continues with Frames where he teaches theatre to aspiring actors..

And then:

A combination of his enthusiasm for performing arts and his flair for writing has resulted in PD penning many articles, scripts and poems. He had been reviewing theatre for The Times of India and continues to contribute articles related to performing arts to leading publications.

A Masters degree holder in Mass Communications, he has been actively working with his production company Prakasam, founded by him in 2001 to provide performing arts solutions to his clients. He started his career as a teacher, moved to corporate communications then to Media & Radio.  Finally he is currently engaging himself with his passion for performing arts.
